From Mexico and Central America.

The Costa Rican Spiny-tailed Lizard is the fastest sprinting lizard, attaining a speed of 21.5 mph or 34.6 km/h.

They are also really good at climbing trees. Most importantly, they look just like those old day dinosaur movies! With a maximum length of 1.5 metres, this Spiny-tailed Lizard is large but not gigantic like those film depictions. Phew!

More on the Spiny-tailed Lizard.

  1. Large and fastest are not so "encouraging" characters for lizard. But still, it's better still than having Komodo dragon as the fastest lizard too.

Would you like to support Akira Toriyama's fundraising for Japan?
